About

A different perspective on legal counsel.

Firm Overview

Built around business reality.

Ebony Law was built around a simple observation: business clients need more than technical legal expertise. They need an advisor who understands the practical consequences of a decision, the importance of commercial relationships, and the demands of building and running an organization.

The firm provides strategic legal counsel to businesses, entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and organizations. Our work includes business transactions and acquisitions, employment matters, outside general counsel services, corporate governance, and commercial disputes.

We are relationship-driven and commercially practical. Our goal is to help clients make informed decisions and to be the kind of advisor they call early, not just when something has gone wrong.

Philosophy and Values

What guides the work.

Strategic thinking

We start with what you are trying to accomplish, then work backward to the legal path that supports it.

Professional integrity

We tell clients what they need to hear, including when the answer is that a deal, dispute, or decision is not worth the risk.

Sound judgment

Good legal work is as much about what not to do as what to do. We weigh cost, timing, and consequence before recommending a course.

Responsiveness

Business moves quickly. We aim to be reachable and clear, and to keep clients informed about where a matter stands.

Commercial understanding

Contracts, governance, and disputes all sit inside a business. We try to understand the business before advising on the law.

Long-term relationships

The best counsel builds over time. We invest in knowing our clients so that advice gets sharper with every engagement.

Portrait of Keenan D. Holmes, Esquire

Founder & CEO

Keenan D. Holmes, Esquire

Keenan has been admitted to practice in Pennsylvania since 2006. His legal work has centered on advising businesses and organizations on commercial matters, including transactions, governance, employment issues, negotiations, and dispute resolution.

Business and corporate advisory experience

Keenan advises owners, executives, and leadership teams on decisions where legal and commercial considerations overlap. His perspective is shaped by experience in business consulting, organizational strategy, and operations, which helps him translate legal risk into terms a decision-maker can act on.

Entrepreneurial perspective

As the founder of Ebony Law, Keenan understands firsthand what it takes to build and run a business: managing relationships, weighing risk against opportunity, and making decisions with incomplete information. That perspective informs how he counsels clients who are doing the same.

Approach to client relationships

Keenan believes the most valuable legal relationships are built over time. He aims to understand a client’s business well enough to anticipate issues, give direct advice, and be a steady voice when decisions are consequential.

Mediation experience

Keenan has more than a decade of experience as a professional mediator. That experience shapes how he evaluates conflict: what is really driving it, where leverage actually sits, and which path to resolution best serves the client’s business. Ebony Law does not offer mediation services; this experience informs the counsel the firm provides.

Leadership philosophy

Leadership, in Keenan’s view, comes down to preparation, discipline, and clear communication. He brings those priorities to client engagements: do the work in advance, say what the risks are, and help the client decide.
